Blaming the Children

kids 4

I teach tuition part time to help pay for my masters. Since my mom is teaching primary school Malay language, I just took over her standard 1 & 2 class.

You see, how well a child will turn out to be depends on how well taught/educated they are during their pre-school years. Parents [you] play a most important role. You teach the little toddler how to read and write well now, and you can be sure s/he’ll sail right through primary and secondary school.
You let the Indonesian maid do your job… that poor kid is going to have a hard time catching up in school. Or worse, s/he might never catch up at all.

One of the most important skill a pre-schooler needs is reading. In fact, it’s the single most important basic skill. You can’t read, you can’t learn. So when I realise a child isn’t keeping up with the class, I’ll ask him/her to read something aloud. (I could literally die listening to how some of them read.)

When informed of her child’s weakness, the parent would typically ask what she could do.

Simple, just make sure that little brats of yours read… read out loud. Give the kid a simple story books or his/her school text books and make them read out loud to you. You can do it when you are driving in the car, cooking in the kitchen, washing, ironing, sweeping the floor, etc…etc…etc…

Now this is were most parents sub-consciously become defensive and blame their children. 9 out of 10 parents do this. I wasn’t aware of this at first until one after another parent starts blurting the same line to their children.

  • “So, you heard what the teacher said, right?”

Then they may add any of these phrases,

  • “You’ve go lots of story books I bought you at home, hor?”
  • “You must read more from now ah.”
  • “See, I told you the read more loh.”

For Pete’s sake… as if it’s not their [the parents’] fault.

It’s your freaking fault your sons/daughters is so damn stupid right now. Stop trying to cover up your arse. Stop trying to put the blame on someone else (your children). Telling them off in front of me is useless, I know you are just doing it for show. How about start teaching your children how to read properly?

You can’t expect 7-year old children to go to MPH and pick up a book to read on his own initiative. You can’t expect the school/tuition teacher to perform miracles on your children with only two hours weekly.
My job is to teach the brats, your job is to make damn sure the brats learn.

I am no expert, but I know this much:
Teach your children to read well as young as possible. This is the best head start you can ever give them.

disclaimer: photos of kids here are the smarter ones that I found cute, and a pleasure to teach.

P.S. reasons for this rant?

  • Because some parents are just plain irresponsible, thinking that tuition classes are the solution. Tuition class only helps if the children have good basics.
  • Also, these ‘slow’ students are a real bitch to teach and they slow smarter students down.

What Can 3000 Ringgit Buy You

Quantum Biotech. Dr Igor Smirnov. MRET (Molecular Resonance Effect Technology).

Let me list the names that are related to the 3000 Ringgit spent, so that Google can index this article.

Heck, I’m going to list them out again.
Quantum Biotech. Dr Igor Smirnov. MRET (Molecular Resonance Effect Technology).

About a month ago, I came home from vacation in Bangkok to find a weird looking stuff in the kitchen. It looked like a mutated table lamp.

f*ck MRET resonator
the ‘mutated table lamp’

According to my mom, it’s an MRET machine. What it does is that it ‘activates water’. Drinking activating water is supposed to ‘improve your health’ and what not. At least that’s what the MRET salesman (UM chemistry graduate cum water specialist) told her.

I took the brochure and did an online search. Confirmed it was a SCAM! You can always try or go to and do a journal search.

  • R&D in molecular resonance is mostly mostly confined to physics and nuclear science, not water related research.
  • Dr [kononnya] Igor Smirnov has not published in peer reviewed, scientifically sound journals. His articles are published in dubious journals not recognised by the scientific community.
  • The validations from various laboratories are pure rubbish. They says nothing about the product. Meixa Tech is a forensics lab that just do lab tests as long as you pay them. Lapuck Laboratory is just another lab. They just run tests. Their tests don’t tell you if the product is effective or not.
  • The validations from universities are lies. How did they do it? Just send a sample of the product to a university and have them test it. Then disregard the results. After that you can put the name of the university in the validation. Don’t believe me? Ask: where are the results? Where are the links to the universities’ tests?
  • Drinking ‘activated water’ can treat cancer, auto-immune disorders, hyperglycemia, Alzheimer’s disease, and HIV/AIDS. What a miracle product huh? How come no doctor is recommending it?
  • The brochure also quotes Nobel Prize winner in medicine. If do a little search, you’ll realise the good Nobel laureate was just making a statement from his research… which has nothing to do with the ‘mutated table lamp’

Knowing this is one of those stupid MLM companies preying on ‘ah soh’ and house wives, I asked her how much does it cost. You guessed it… three bloody thousand Ringgit.

My mother has never believed in MLM or these kind of crap stuff. I don’t know why in the sudden h*ll would she buy such an expensive rubbish on an impulse. [I guess the sun rose from the west that day.] It does nothing but kononnya emit waves to the water to create molecular resonance which will in turn activate the water[WTF?!]. Worse, the craftmanship of the ‘mutated table lamp’ is horrijible…terrijible…vegetable: cheap-squeaky plastic all over, with a few gimmicky LEDs and a nipple-like button.

It seems the salesman was quite a charming little fella. He was introduced by a Mrs Evelyn (a parent of her student). The guy claimed that he graduated from UM in chemistry, and is currently working as a water expert selling specialised water treatment/activation equipments to hospital. Then he took out some cheap science kit and started to demonstrate how different the water became after “activation“.

3000 ringgit
Tiga ribu ringgit sudah kasi bakar

I’d rather she spend the 3000 Ringgit on a vacation, than to give it to a conman. I wonder why didn’t she consult my dad and me before purchasing. As a science graduate, I know well enough about water to know if the ‘charming little fella’ was lying (yes, he was).

Sikarang, apa boleh bikin lagi?! Tiga ribu sudah kasi bakar! Hanya boleh kasi bising sama sini lah!

If you meet someone trying to sell you one of these water activation machines, call them a f*cking liar straight to their face. The best water for the human body is distilled water. Period. Filtering before boiling the water works just as well.

P.S. I challenge ‘mutated table lamp'(MRET) users to come flame me! Apa macam, kecut ke?

Buy my vote!

This is the un-official report from Ijok ‘buy’-election… from a first hand story of a businessman.

Ringgit Malaysia

This guy has a business investment somewhere in Ijok, and he has an employee who so happens to be from Ijok.

That guy was visibly happy when he returned for work after visiting his family back in Ijok. It seems that each household was initially offered eight hundred Ringgit. When the competition for votes became intense, the incentive to sway voters to vote for BN increased to one thousand Ringgit.

That’s not a small amount of money. One thousand per household. A thousand houses would translate to one million [RM1,000,000]! I’m sure Ijok has more than 1000 households.

  • Where in the heck did they get this money to pay all these people? [Is that my parents’ tax money?!]
  • How is it that the Elections Commission(SPR) can close 2 eyes on this matter?
  • Why is it not reported by the opposition or any newspapers (how come even MalaysiaKini or other bloggers did not report about it)?
  • Or maybe I’m just too young to know that this is the SOP(standard operating procedure) of BN election tactics?
  • __________

I’m absolutely angry that such underhand tactics are being employed in the election in Ijok. This is UNFAIR. They should do it in Bandar Tun Razak too, where I vote. And make that 5000 Ringgit so that I can buy my dream lens. Bwahahaha!

Come BN. Come buy my vote next election. I offer 5000 Ringgit.
    5000 Ringgit only… cheap cheap!

Oh BTW, I assume you know that the ‘guy with fake hair in our Cabinet’ promised an illegal housing area of Indian Malaysian community in Ijok to give them land titles during the election campaign?
That piece of land was meant for development soon, it was delayed due to negotiations with the settlers. Suddenly, the developer lost the contract [to develope the land] after the election. Then it was promptly paid 8 million Ringgit as compensation for the lost of the contract.

    Two questions,

  • How come land titles were given away so easily?
  • Spend 8 million of government’s [read: people’s] money for BN’s [read: political party-not government’s] election campaign?
  • I up my vote to 10k Ringgit.
Now I can buy this too!
